OUR FAMILY
When people ask us if we consider ourselves to be a "large" family, my husband always responds, "It depends who we're standing next to"! LOL
In today's times, I suppose we ARE considered a large family...AND WE LOVE IT!The Lord has blessed my husband and I with ten children and two darling little grand-daughters! They are the JOY and LIGHT of our lives...except when they are turning us gray and causing us wrinkles, LOL!!!
You can meet my whole family and see our "Little House in the Woods" on my Daily Blessings website! You can also find a wealth of fellowship, homeschool and Catholic resources, thought-provoking articles, reflections, nice music, and LOTS OF FUN ! Just click on Daily Blessings in the sidebar of this site!
MY JOURNEY
I've been at home and raising my children for 24 years now! HA! That just doesn't seem possible! Time has TRULY flown by in the blink of an eye along my personal journey...I am so thankful to the Lord for all He has given me through my vocation as a wife and mother.
A few of our eldest children attended schools outside the home for a time. Most of them have never seen the inside of a "brick and mortar" classroom and I could not envision ever ending our home study program.
We're a Catholic Family and our school lessons are based upon that foundation. Through the years, with much prayer, discernment, and trial and error, we have been able to find EXCELLENT programs and resources for our home school. One of the greatest blessings for me, is that I GET TO LEARN along-side my children! Each day brings an opportunity for NEW things, and I have developed a LOVE OF LEARNING that I neither comprehended nor embraced in my younger years. This love of learning comes OUT of the classroom and into our daily family life...hence, the idea of "Educating the Whole Person: body, mind, and soul"! I'm so happy that I am now able to share that experience and provide YOU with solid resources so that you can find and customize a home study program that is JUST RIGHT for your family!
A huge part of my personal journey is that I've been a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom)for 24 years ! I have always greatly appreciated my husband's drive, perseverance, and steadfast hard work in sustaining our family on a single income. YEARRRRRSSSS ago, in my twenties, I would care for other people's children in my home at times to supplement our income.
The idea of being able to lift some of the burden from my husband's shoulders while STAYING HOME with the children was always an attractive one for me. However, finding something legitimate and worthwhile has been a life-long quest.
FROM SAHM TO WAHM !!!
Today's economy has many-the-wife wondering what she can do to help. We are already BUSY as homeschool moms:praying, teaching, nurturing, nursing, ministering, playing, chauffering, mentoring, planning, purchasing, entertaining, and MORE! Truly, the SAHHM (Stay At Home Homeschooling Mom) is the EPITOME of multi-tasking!
Imagine my delight when I found out that I could continue to stay home AND help supplement our family income at the same time!
A while back on the yellow brick road...ha ha...just kidding...but: some time ago I joined a network of women who belong to The Homeschool Lounge; a place for homeschooling mothers to meet, learn, fellowship, and share. It is a WONDERFUL site! I learned that that site was OWNED and OPERATED by ONE OF THE MOMS and met others who had websites of their own...sites that were helping their families to gain a second income!!! I learned that I could go from being a SAHM to a WAHM (Work at Home Mom) with the right tools, lots of effort, and some time...ALL of which I have found! (God will provide the graces you need when you seek to do good!)
So, HERE I AM! Judy, the WAHM! You are visiting my home-based business RIGHT NOW! (And I APPRECIATE that VERY much!)
